Kortan.. Name standing for its quality… a taste shouldnt be missed.
Kortan Restaurant is one of the first fish restaurant in Bodrum. It is situated along the shore line of the city, on the street known as “bar street”.
Magnificient Bodrum Castle is what you see when dining. Island of Kos is sparkling from far and lazer lights of Disco Halikarnas are bringing about different colors to the sea.
Through out the history, building has always been a place used for the night. It was built by the Knýghts of Saint Jean 600 years ago as a winehouse and it was later on used as Local Night Club during Ottomans and Turks. Today, building has been restored in order to give its ancient look and atmosphere to feel history while dining.
Mr. Ali Gunaydin has started it as fish restaurant 37 years ago. This Gentlemen came to Bodrum from Istanbul. Back in Istanbul, he spent his years working in high class restaurants of the time. When he started off Kortan, he quickly made success due to his knowledge on dining culture. Soon enough, as Bodrum was discovered by tourists, Kortan started attracting famous persons, renowned personalities, statemans and so on.Sting and Dustin Hoffman are great examples of renowned personas who have visited Kortan and tasted delicious Agean Fish and Mezes.
Renowned Turkish Art Music Singer Zeki Muren had two addresses in Bodrum during his summer visits, one was his house which became a museum today located on a street with his name and Kortan was his everynight address for fish and raki.
You can see a photo of the restaurant 37 years ago and a photo of it today hung on the wall of the restaurant side by side which shows it has always kept the same quality to stand still and same.
